The History of MeisterSinger Watches

MeisterSinger was founded in Münster by Manfred Brassler back in 2001. Brassler had previously ran his watch company called “Watch People” since 1989 which focused on lower end quartz watches. He sold this company in 1999 to focus on the production of high end mechanical timepieces. MeisterSinger was founded in 2001, the name was taken from the title given to singers who had found a new tone of melody. Brassler drew inspiration from sundials and old clock towers, like Westminster Abbey, which only use a single hand. Old clock towers only had one hand as people only needed to have an idea of what time of the day it was as it was only after industrialisation that people needed to know exact times down to the second. MeisterSinger watches have had critical acclaim in recent years, winning awards in 2015 and 2016.
