About Eterna Watches
Eterna was born in 1856 with their Workshops based in
Grenchen, they are passionately driven to master horological
challenges as well as constantly improve existing Features
in the world of Swiss watch making. Time and time again they
have driven the world of watchmaking pushing the boundaries
on what is possible.
Since its birth in 1856 numerous ground breaking
developments have emerged from the companies workshops. On
the 7th November 1856 doctor Joseph Girard and Urs Schild
found the ebauce factory. In the 1860's Dr Girard sold his
shares to devote himself entirely to being a doctor and in
the 1870s the first automated production machines emerged.
Eterna didnt stop there with many more revolutionary and
innovative creations. all the way up to as close as 2014
when the 'calibre 39' family was produced which can produce
88 different movements using the base calibre, boosting the
brand's pioneering spirit.
Eterna have a number of breathtaking ranges these include:
'KonTiki' inspired by Thor Heyrdahls voyage to Polynesia as
well as 'Eternity', 'Heritage', 'Lady Eterna', 'Grace' and a
select few special edition watches.
Eterna soon enjoyed worldwide success and its benefits after
a major technical advance devised and implemented by
themselves. Their reputation skyrocketed and with that their
sales. The 1948 today is a tribute to the original with a
choice of two dials whilst holding on to that technical
inventiveness that made it a contemporary classic.
